Volunteering

Interested in volunteering at NCJC? We have many diverse opportunities available!

If you enjoy working with small children, we have openings in our child development programs for volunteers like you. We offer child care from 7:30am to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday and can work with your schedule to see what fits.

If you prefer working with older kids we have many opportunities for you to take advantage of. We provide after school programming at various Iowa City elementary schools and we also offer an array of programming at the Neighborhood Centers. Examples include photography groups, drop-in game nights, science groups, music lessons, and craft groups. Hours are generally after school and in the early evening, Monday through Friday.

If you are interested in education, you could volunteer as a tutor for youth and/or adults. Neighborhood Centers provides evening tutoring for youth on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from 5:30-8:00 pm. We also provide ELL and GED tutoring for adults from 9am to noon, Monday through Friday.
Can’t commit to a set schedule? We could still use your help with neighborhood events, neighborhood clean-ups, and various neighborhood improvement projects. Times and dates will vary.

Ready to commit? Check out our Letter to Volunteers and send an application to:
