A story from our neighborhoods

A next step toward home.

This fall, a neighbor who had been living in his car took an important step toward securing housing. He had made an appointment and arrived early, but language barriers and paperwork made the process difficult.

Ayman Sharif, a Community Navigator at NCJC, accompanied him. Together, they navigated the application, gathered information and found answers.

They couldn't determine the housing decision. But the neighbor completed an important step toward finding a home, and he didn't have to do it alone.

That same commitment to showing up for neighbors runs through NCJC's early childhood education, youth development, family support and community engagement programs.
